First time here. Just flew in from California and my parents wanted to bring me to downtown Bay City to try this newer downtown tapa, grill, and wine bar. We really enjoyed the bacon-brown sugar almonds, sweet potato waffle fries with pulled pork, and the meatballs with marinara and polenta. My mom has heard good things and now she wants to come back and try more dishes. A hipster menu that offers more than bar food as a Midland Street restaurant. I would love to come back again when I am home to visit this summer!

My wife and I took advantage of a beautiful afternoon and chose to dine on the back patio at Vno's. We were greeted quickly and were soon enjoying our lunch. My wife had the Grilled Chicken Romaine Salad and I had the Lobster Tacos. Both were outstanding! We can't wait to go back!

Just had lunch with a friend on the back patio...lovely! shared 3 tapas, humus, cheese plate and salmon. Also had their tomato soup..All excellent! Fast and friendly service. Highly recommend!

I have been here probably 10 times and I have yet to have anything disappointing. The drinks, food, and atmosphere are great. Extremely fresh and clean.

Been there the past three Mondays, their food is prepared exceptionally! A very different, yet refreshing difference in menu options compared to the rest of the city. Their wait staff doesn't seem to understand how to ring in their specials though, each week our price for our drinks was different. They don't know how to ring in their specials. Other than that a pretty solid place, a lot nicer than the rest of the bars on the Street.

We went to a wonderful wine tasting event. They had some Great wines and some awesome food pairings. We learned a lot about the wines from Greg Kimbrue and the vendors. We're looking forward to the next event.

Stopped at VNO again for dinner with some friends. Had a pretty good grilled chicken sandwich and a bottle of wine. Much better experience than previous visits.

Wow, what a breath of fresh air to see this place in Bay City. I hadn't even known it was open until just this weekend when friends invited me out to dinner. The space has a very modern feel, and the menu is perfect for groups to share and sample different small plate items. I would say that our favorites that evening were crab rangoon dip, perch tacos, and calamari. Server was very nice and helped us have a great time. I plan to come back in the future with clients, and am very excited about their retail wine selections! Thanks for a great experience VNO!

I gave VNO two tries. I'm not interested in dining there again. In fairness, this seems like a nice place to grab a drink. The first time I visited, they were out of everything I ordered that was herbivore friendly. (fruit plate, hummus, tapenade) They do offer a veggie burger but the bun contains animal ingredients, no fries (as they contain some kind of coating with dairy) or side for $9. I'm sorry, but that is just not a good value or option. I ended up ordering guacamole and chips and some wine as my meal. It was completely disappointing. The guac was chunks of non- ripe avocado in some watery salsa. Our waiter was very nice, he researched ingredients for us and he told us the menu would be changing, which is why I wrote the experience off to being bad luck and gave it another try. The second visit, I went with a group who chose the place. Again, not many options for a herbivore not into dining on slabs of carcass. I ordered a fruit plate and some sparkling wine. The fruit plate was good and decently priced. ($5?) It was a nice appetizer, until I could get home and prepare myself something fabulous. The waitstaff was again very nice and attentive to the party I was with. No one in my party was very impressed with their meals of nachos and burgers. I'm most annoyed with VNO for the lack of compassionate options and marketing as "new age". I don't see what is "new age" about burgers, fried whats-its, and cheese filled dips. Feels like the same ole stuff available at most other establishments, and chain restaurants in Bay City. A description like "new age" should really have some go-nads behind it, ya know? There are 80,000+ edible plants on this earth, there is a world of seasonings and herbs. Get innovative please. I wish the owners the best, but I will not be back to dine here.

Stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon and started off with a liter of mimosas ($8, what a great deal). We also tried the salmon spread and calamari. Both were decent and tasty but not fantastic. We also got 2 sandwiches, the Southender and Cali-Dreamer. I tried and enjoyed both! I will be back

An excellent alcohol selection, but this place is not accurately advertised. Simply put, it's generic bar food advertised as "new age tapas." Nothing unique. They need to step up their game.

I enjoyed a delicious portabella burger here. Great daily specials and rotating 8 taps of solid craft beer. Wish it was in my neigborhood!

We are always interested in something new and different in Bay City. Greg Kimbrue has a good reputation and an interest in wine. We wish his interest and attention was focused on the kitchen and prompt service. The salmon spread lacked salmon but was served with plenty of stale crackers. Calimari was better. We ordered perch dinners that looked and tasted like they were out of the frozen section at Krogers. Really awful! No taste, Cole slaw was flat, really awful was all I could say to my wife. Owners son cleared a dish and was indignant to take a couple extra empty plates. Not going back!! Just awful and no excuses because Greg was there.

Horrible. Just plain horrible. Both the food and the service. Had to give it 1 star because Yelp does not allow for a negative number. To start off, my wife and I went in for lunch. We walked in and the waitstaff didn't acknowledge us, so after about 3 minutes of just standing there I decided to take a booth at which point a waitress said oh just seat yourself. This should have been an omen of things to come. Before placing our order my wife informs the waitress that she has a dairy allergy. No cheese no milk etc. waitress said not a problem. So we order and the waiting game began ... And went on ... And on ... And on. Finally our food gets to the table. My wife's hot sandwich is cold, and guess what? Dairy! I went up to the waitress and informed her of the mistake and she comes up to the table and says "oh I'm so sorry. I didn't know horseradish sauce had dairy." To which my wife replied, " it's not the sauce that contains dairy, it's the bread smothered in butter." She immediately offered a replacement, but since we noticed two other tables had been occupied since we received out defunct order we figured we already lost one hour of our lives here and we're not interested in losing another 1/2 hour so we left. And by the way my Reuben should have come labeled with a "will contain excess butter." I couldn't get past the second bite. If you do happen to stroll into this "establishment" please don't say you weren't warned ... Which would be followed by an I told you so.

This place is awesome! It feels like a restaurant in Traverse City instead of being in Bay City. The Pat Lafrida burger's are amazing! There are so many different wines to choose from.

Deeply disappointed. After a dinner event, about 9:50 on a Friday night, my wife said "Let's try the wine bar", for we both had high hopes for a touch of class on Midland Street. We entered through the loud Bar & Grill side, and were told the quiet area (which we remembered fondly as the friendly but short-lived One Love Cafe, and even the satisfying Hen House before that) was closed, because the kitchen was. At 10 on a Friday night??? And the kitchen should stay open with a limited tapas-type menu, maybe just olives and cheese and crackers plates to go with wine. Instead we sat at the too-loud sports bar (really, does Bay City need ANOTHER one?), with big-screen TVs demanding attention. Enjoyed the live musical duo, but played too loud to talk over. I had hoped for a good Spanish sherry to sip as we talked, the waitress had never heard the word, sent over the bartender who admitted yeah, the wine list should have one. On the way out, the Mrs. said it looked like a place only for lonely men who wanted to be distracted by the TVs and not talk to anyone. Beyond that crowd, this place should be down by SVSU, for it's perfect for college kids who want to holla...but the sign advertising it as a place for wine drinkers is misleading. Should just say BIG LOUD SHINY SPORTS BAR! not to mislead anyone not in the mood for that. The Chuck E. Cheese of wine bars I guess.

Had a great dinner! Steak skewers are delicious. Had low expectations going in but very impressed. Large selection of wine. I would eat there again.

One of my favorite places to go for lunch or dinner. Everything I've tied on the menu has been delicious, but my favorite is the pulled pork sliders. It's fun to get a few appetizers to share. The staff is always friendly. I like that you can buy wine/beer to take home with you. And on the weekends they have live music.

My husband and I went to the bar side of Vno,called the BC Grill. It was horrible. My burger was shriveled and dry, and the sweet potato fries were as hard as rocks. Very disappointing because the Vno side has always been good.

Love this place! Great wine selection, and great craft beer selection as well. They have awesome deals every day! We went on a Friday night and got half off all tapas after 9pm. I got a glass of wine, my friend got a beer, we split 3 tapas, and our bill was $22! They also had live music, they were taking requests. Nice atmosphere, not too crowded. We were able to enjoy the music and conversation, and had great service. I will definitely be bAck!

The lobster tacos are awesome, and highly recommended. My lunch guest had a Boers and cheese and bacon burger and said it was phenomenal. Service was excellent.

I recently posted a negative post, the owner contacted me, righted the wrong, sometimes mistakes are made by employees, but they seemed to care to fix it, last visit was great. Will be a repeat customer.
